CLINTON CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Traffic impacts
During construction, traffic will be managed using two‐way traffic on one side of the divided interstate. All ramps will have short-term closures at the WIS 140 interchange with only two ramps closed at a time. The northbound on‐ramp & southbound off‐ramp will have short-term closures at the County X/Hart Road Interchange. A detour will be in place during these closures.

Detailed Cty Highway 140 Information: Updated 6/04/2025
The Highway 140 North Project will start June 16 and end in the late fall. The project will be starting near Hwy 14 with two “box culvert” matters. This may take up to 2 months. Starting on June 16, Highway 140 will be “soft closed” (local traffic only, no semi traffic) from just North of I-43 to Avalon Rd. From Avalon Rd to Hwy 14, Highway 140 will be “hard closed” to all vehicle traffic to complete the “box culvert" work. Once the “box culvert” work is completed, Highway 140 will be “hard closed” to all traffic, North of the I-43 entrance / exit ramps to Highway 14. The area surrounding the I-43 entrance / exit ramps will be “milled & resurfaced”, however will remain open during the project with flaggers when necessary.

Coming up from Illinois on 76 you can go east on Stateline Rd to Northrup Rd, turn left (north). Cross 67 and continue north to county J. (4-way stop intersection with Cty Rd P to the left, Cty Rd J goes to the right and also straight ahead, this is the way you'll want to go) Then follow J into Clinton.
